Let us be real recovery is not just sitting on the couch. Taking some supplement. I am a dentist, a swimmer, and a dad. I have learned that real recovery is about getting yourself back on track. This means your body, your mind and your daily routine all working together. Recovery involves syncing your body, mind, and daily routine. This helps you become a better dentist, a better swimmer, and a better dad.

Between my shifts at the clinic, I have bad posture. When I go to my swim sessions, my body is always working really hard. If you are only going to the gym, you are missing the picture. If you are just worrying about the food you eat, you still do not see the entire picture. **Holistic recovery** is about how your whole life feels. It involves getting enough sleep. You need to have a healthy stomach too. It’s important to keep your stress levels down. Avoid having a lot of inflammation. Finally, make your daily life work for you. My body and my mind are. I need to take care of both. Everything, about my health is. I need to think about all of it when I am trying to feel my best.

Swimming taught me a lesson: recovery is not about doing nothing at all. It is about recovery. Knowing when to push myself when to take it easy and when to just breathe. The same thing applies to my life. If my sleep is messed up my energy levels are really low. If I am stressed out all the time I get inflamed. If my stomach is not feeling right my mood and focus are affected. It does not matter if I am doing well in the pool or, at the clinic. If I ignore my body I will not be capable of carrying out my best. I will lose my sanity. Swimming and smart recovery go hand in hand. The same goes for life and smart recovery.

So what really helps us? Things that we can actually do every day. We need to get better at sleeping. We should eat food that’s good for us. We should get some exercise. We need to practice breathing and find ways to calm down when we are feeling nervous. We do not need some trick or a fast solution. Just simple things that we can do every day that really work. We are talking about choices. These include better sleep habits, clean nutrition, light movement, and breathing exercises. We are also discussing ways to calm the nervous system that actually help us.

Being a dad makes me think that **real sustainable health** is really important. For me getting better is not about posting pictures on media to show off. It is about finding a way to balance my job, my family, and the things I love to do. I aim to achieve this without getting too tired. At *The Fusion Biohacker* they believe that getting better in a way is, about using **science, experience and consistency**. They do not think that **real sustainable health** comes from taking pills or looking for easy ways out.

So what is the main point? **You need to recover in a way feel good do well in life and really succeed.** 🏊‍♂️🦷💪
