I am Dr. Manav Verma. I am a dentist. I love using Apple products. I also like to swim. I am a parent.

I want to tell you about the Apple Watch. This watch is really good for your health. It can even save your life. Not like in a movie. In a way that makes you go to the doctor.

I have been using the Apple Watch since the Series 2. I best because it keeps a check on my health. It has a thing called ECG that checks my heart. It also has fall detection, which’s great for swimmers like my kid.

I will explain how it helps me .

How I Start My Day

When I wake up I do not check my phone. I check my Apple Watch instead. The Apple Watch shows me my sleep stages and my heart rate variability. If my heart rate variability is low I skip my morning workout.

Do Not Let The Data Stress You Out

One thing. I have seen people get anxious because of their Apple Watch. They see a heart rate and panic which makes it even higher.

Use the data to ask yourself questions, not to worry.

If your heart rate is low ask yourself: Did I drink coffee? Did I have a fight with my wife?

If you are breathing fast while you sleep ask yourself: Did I eat late? Is my stomach upset?

The Apple Watch is the tool we have to track our health. It is not perfect. It is worth it. You can get a device that can save your life for the price of a filling.

Here Is What You Should Do:

  1. Open your iPhone Health app.
  2. Set up your Medical ID. Add your blood type, allergies and emergency contacts. This is useless if you do not set it up.
  3. Switch on Fall Detection by going to the Watch app.
  4. Focus on Heart rate this week and move on to another feature next week.
